Author Samantha Power will make two stops on the Seacoast this weekend to sign copies of her latest book and deliver a speech at the annual Portsmouth Peace Treaty Forum. Recenty added to President-elect Barack Obama’s transition team for foreign policy, the Harvard University professor and Time magazine columnist will be at RiverRun Bookstore in Portsmouth on Saturday, Dec. 6, from noon to 1 p.m. She will be at Wentworth by the Sea hotel in New Castle at 3 p.m. to speak in honor of Theodore Roosevelt’s 1906 Nobel Peace Prize.
At both locations, Power will sign copies of “Chasing the Flame: One Man’s Fight to Save the World,” which was recently published in paperback. The book tells the story of United Nations envoy Sergio Vieira de Mello, who was killed in a suicide bomb attack in Iraq in 2003.
