Shakespeare comes to the mill

A theater company in Dover is bringing a classic Shakespeare romance to its new space in a historic mill building. The theatre.unmasked team will stage “Romeo & Juliet” at the Washington Street Mills from Feb. 4 to 14.

The production will include music, food vendors, market stalls and other festivities to create a park-style atmosphere. The show features Jake Tremblay as Romeo and Emily Karel as Juliet, along with local actors Jewel Davis, Shannon Marshall, Justin Fredenburg, Jamie Clavet, Jesse Kamien and Eric Barron.

Theatre.unmasked formed early in 2011, launching its first production, “Oleanna,” at Dover’s Rebel Chef Café in May. The group aims to produce at least one original play, one classic play and one contemporary play each year. They hope to make “Shakespeare in the Mill” an annual event in downtown Dover.

Show times for “Romeo & Juliet” are Saturdays at 6:30 p.m. and Sundays at 1 p.m., with a special Valentine’s Day performance on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m., at 1 Washington St. in Dover. Tickets are $13 to $8, available at www.theatreunmasked.com.
