Local representative seeks RNC seat
Deputy House Speaker Pamela Tucker of Greenland is seeking a seat on the Republican National Committee. Tucker announced on Jan. 23 she would run for the position to be vacated by current committeewoman Phyllis Woods of Dover.
Woods, who has served as committeewoman since 2007, has announced she will not seek reelection when her term expires later this year. Tucker’s bid means she will not be running for reelection to the House of Representatives in November. She quickly received the endorsements of N.H. House Speaker William O’Brien and House majority leader D.J. Bettencourt.
Representatives from the state Democratic Party criticized Tucker for declaring her candidacy in a State House e-mail, which they say violates state ethics law. They accused Bettencourt of committing the same violation when he endorsed presidential candidate Mitt Romney in a State House e-mail in December.
