Durham installs pay & display meters
Durham activated three new “Pay and Display” parking kiosks on Pettee Brook Lane on Jan. 17, and town officials are seeking feedback about how they work.
The new solar-powered meters accept both cash and credit cards, operating from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The first 15 minutes of parking are free; after that, it’s $1 per hour—the same rate enforced on the old meters.
The new meters are part of a pilot project during which town officials hope to fix any glitches before expanding the program. Those interested in providing feedback can contact Jennie Berry at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
Durham is the latest Seacoast community to purchase the new “pay and display” parking system, joining Portsmouth Hampton and Dover. The system requires parkers to purchase time from the machines and display the receipts on their dashboards.
