Gary Johnson leaves GOP
Frustrated by his exclusion from Republican primary debates and opinion polls, presidential candidate and former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson has announced he is leaving the GOP to run for the Libertarian nomination.
Johnson, who served two terms as governor of New Mexico from 1994 to 2003, was only included in two of the numerous primary debates that took place in 2011. He has struggled to gain exposure and has accused the GOP of ignoring him.
Johnson is not a typical candidate. An avid skier, hiker and cyclist, he has reached the highest peaks of four different continents, including Mt. Everest. Unlike most Republicans, he supports gay marriage and the legalization of marijuana.
