Redistricting hearings

The N.H. House Special Committee on Redistricting will hold a series of public hearings this month to gather input on the redistricting process. There will be a total of 10 hearings, one in each county of the state.

Committee chair Paul Mirski (R-Enfield) announced the hearings during a press conference in Concord on Oct. 4. The announcement came after several groups, including Granite State Progress and America Votes, criticized the committee for not being more transparent during the redistricting process.

Redistricting occurs every 10 years in New Hampshire, redrawing the geographic lines that mark the districts for the House of Representatives, Executive Council, County Commissioner Districts and the two congressional districts.

The Rockingham County hearing takes place Thursday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m., at the Rockingham County Nursing Home’s Hilton Auditorium in Brentwood. The Strafford County hearing takes place Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. in Court Room 1 of Strafford County Superior Court in Dover. Both will be run by Rep. David Bates (R-Windham), vice chair of the Special Committee on Redistricting.
