NH named best state to raise a child
For the fourth consecutive year, New Hampshire has been named the best state in the nation to raise a child. Gov. John Lynch’s office recently announced the results of the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Kids Count survey.
New Hampshire ranked first in four out of 10 indicators used for the survey and ranked in the top 10 in all categories. The Granite State had the lowest number of children living in poverty, the lowest teen birth rate, the lowest percentage of teens not in school and not high school graduates, and the lowest percentage of teens not attending schools and not working.
Massachusetts ranked third on the list, Vermont came in fourth and Maine was 11th.
