Seabrook sobriety checkpoint nets 17 arrests

Authorities screened more than 800 vehicles and arrested 17 individuals. Charges included driving while under the influence of liquor, possession of a controlled drug, and minor in possession of alcohol. The arrestees ranged in age from 17 to 54. They will all be arraigned in Hampton District Court.

Others were charged with violations such as open container of alcohol and operating after suspension. Two subjects were taken into protective custody.

The checkpoint was conducted by police from Seabrook and Hampton, along with New Hampshire State Police Troop A and the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department. The N.H. Department of Safety’s Office of Emergency Management provided support.

A checkpoint held in Portsmouth on July 16 resulted in zero arrests. It was the first time the city held a checkpoint without arresting anyone.
