Drug sweep in Portsmouth
Portsmouth police arrested six suspects and issued warrants for three others during a city-wide drug sweep on June 2 and 3. The nine subjects are charged with possession or sale of controlled and narcotic drugs in the city.
The Portsmouth Police Department’s detective division began rounding up suspects on the morning of June 2 and continued into the following day. Capt. Corey McDonald said the arrests were the result of investigations into the sale or possession of cocaine, marijuana, Roxicodone, Suboxone, and Adderall.
The suspects hail from Portsmouth, Dover, Rochester, Somersworth and Berwick, Maine. Police listed one suspect as having an “unknown address” but noted that he frequents Market Square. All eight of those facing charges are men.
