DOT meeting in New Castle June 6

The N.H. Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting in New Castle on Monday, June 6, to discuss the proposed rehabilitation of a section of Route 1B. The meeting begins at 10 a.m. at New Castle Town Hall on Main Street.
The proposal entails substantial road work to Route 1B from Goat Island to New Castle Island. It would involve widening the travel lanes and shoulders, replacing cable guardrail with beam guardrail, paving the gravel shoulders, repaving the main roadway, and repairing existing slopes.
At the meeting, DOT representatives will provide citizens and local officials with information about the project and solicit public input about transportation needs, community goals and environmental protection.
