Rochesters Chris Cartier nominated for the nomination for the Grammy
The nation voted on its fate for the next two years on Nov. 7, but 23-year-old Chris Cartier of Rochester has his dreams pinned to the outcome of a different ballot box. On Dec. 4 members of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Science will announce the final five nominees in each category of the Grammy Awards. So far, Cartier’s album “Harmony” has made it through a series of nomination hurdles to be included among the 36-60 entries currently remaining in all of the seven categories for which it’s been nominated.
Quite a surprise for an album released at the Rochester “Concert on the Common” series in August 2005. His promotion company, Big Noise in Providence, submitted it for the Grammy consideration.
The categories include Record of the Year, “Peace of Mind”; Album of the Year (a nomination he shares with Chris Magruder of Thundering Sky Studio); Song of the Year; Best New Artist; Best Male Pop Vocal Performance; Best Pop Vocal Album; and Best Country Song, “Peace of Mind.”
Cartier is currently working on material for his third album.
