Levon Helm postponed
The Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom’s 2012 season got off on the wrong foot when legendary drummer Levon Helm postponed his March 30 performance due to a health issue. The show has been rescheduled for Tuesday, July 17.
Helm, the long-time drummer for The Band, recently slipped a disk in his back. Despite therapy, it had not healed enough to travel or sit at the drums for any extended length of time by the date of the sold-out show in Hampton.
The good news is that Helm’s health is otherwise strong. He survived a serious battle with throat cancer in the early 2000s and has continued to tour. Helm expects his back to recover in time for the new Ballroom date in July.
Tickets to the original show will be honored at the new date, and refunds are available for those who cannot attend.
Meanwhile, the Ballroom’s season will now launch with a sold-out performance by Marilyn Manson with The Pretty Reckless on Saturday, April 28. For more information, call 603-929-4200 or visit www.casinoballroom.com.
