Super Secret Project set to unveil new CD and website
The Super Secret Project won over thousands of New Hampshire residents with its viral YouTube sensation, “Granite State of Mind,” a cunning parody of Jay Z’s “Empire State of Mind.” The comedy group has also written songs about their non-gay adoration of actor Zach Braff, their utter lack of fear for gangsta rapper turned family film star Ice Cube, and other important topical subjects.
Now, The Super Secret Project is launching a new chapter in its illustrious career with a full-length album, “Thank God for Jesus,” due out on Jan. 17. They will simultaneously launch a new website created by Portsmouth’s DESIGNativity CREative.
The group, consisting of Billy D, Darby DeChristopher and Christian Wisecarver, has been at work on the new album since the summer of 2009. Their first full-length recording since “Homegrown Hi-Fi,” the disc includes a compilation of comedic parodies, original acoustic songs and rap ditties.
The new website at www.thesupersecretproject.com will include a full catalogue of the band’s past music videos, along with future videos and a weekly series called “Tune in TuesdayS,” consisting of a new comedy tidbit every week.
The SSP has been making humorous music videos since 2005. They achieved regional fame in the spring of 2010, when their video for “Granite State of Mind” garnered more than 1 million views within two weeks. They’ve since performed at Verizon Wireless Arena, opened for Weird Al Yankovic, and played at The Music Hall.
