Seacoast alum releases new CD

In the mid 2000s, Hotel Alexis was a mainstay of the Seacoast music scene. Formed in 2004 by front man Sidney Lindner, along with a rotating cast of locals like Kim Torres, Nate Groth, Gregg Porter, and brothers John and Chris Greiner, the band featured a stirring indie folk-rock sound that consistently mesmerized area audiences.

The group disbanded when Lindner headed west several years ago. He’s shuffled around a bit since, recently landing in the San Diego area. But Lindner is still making music, and his new solo CD, “Holy Brother of the Mountain Sun,” is available now through Amazon.com and iTunes.

The album was released in early December on Broken Sparrow Records, the local label founded by Lindner and Groth. Themed around the death of Lindner’s brother, the disc’s nine songs have a chilling, emotive sound that echoes the best of singer-songwriters like Elliott Smith and Nick Drake. Lindner’s tremulous vocals and warm, prickling guitar work create a lo-fi atmosphere that’s rife with emotion.
