Hoedown at The Hall
The Dance Hall in Kittery will celebrate the holiday season with an old-fashioned barn dance on Friday, Nov. 18. The holiday hoedown will feature the banjos, fiddles, mandolins and vocals of The New England Bluegrass Band.
The group has included top players from the Seacoast and around the nation. Their lineup in Kittery will include guitarist and mandolin player Cecil Abels; bassist and mandolin player Jon Ross; fiddle and banjo player Dave Talmage; bassist Amanda Kowalski; banjo player Grace Van Hoft, and perhaps a few other surprise guests.
Talmage is also a barn dance caller who interned under New Hampshire legend Dudley Laughman. He’ll direct the dancing while the full band picks, strums and sings an array of traditional folk and bluegrass tunes.
The event begins at 8 p.m. at The Dance Hall, 7 Walker St., Kittery, Maine, 207-703-2083, www.thedancehallkittery.org. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.
