Useless launches new band

Geoff Palmer, better known as Geoff Useless of The Guts and The Queers fame, has started a new outfit called The Connection. It’s a 1960s-style rock and roll quartet featuring four veterans of the local music scene.

Palmer and Brad Marino both sing and play guitar, while Andy Casey plays bass and Chris Faulkner plays drums. The band members have also been in such area acts as the Rydells, Red Invasion, and the Jonee Earthquake Band.

The Connection has already released a self-titled EP and has several shows booked in August. They’ll host a rock ’n’ roll dance party at The Press Room on Friday, Aug. 19, with Portland-based rocker Kurt Baker and New York band The Dirty Shames. For more information, find the band on Facebook.
