Oregon label releases local RPM CD
The Farthest Forests came together specifically to participate in the 2011 RPM Challenge and succeeded in churning out their debut CD in the 28 days of February. Since then, the Eliot, Maine-based duo has been discovered by a record label in Oregon, which will release their album at the end of May.
The band consists of Anne Marple on lead vocals and Peter Squires on guitar, trombone, toy piano, percussion and back-up vocals. They play an endearing brand of lo-fi, indie folk-pop laden with handclaps and foot stomps. The duo will perform songs from “Strange Wool” at Adelle’s Coffeehouse in Dover on Thursday, May 26.
Blueberry Hill Records, an independent label based in Salem, Ore., will release “Strange Wool” on Tuesday, May 31. The CD, consisting of 10 original songs, is available now digitally on www.bandcamp.com or at www.rpmchallenge.com. The physical CD will be available at Bull Moose in Portsmouth after its release.
