Tangled up in Bob

Robert Zimmerman was born in rural Minnesota on May 24, 1941. Twenty years later, he moved to New York, changed his name to Bob Dylan, and proceeded to alter the course of American music forever.

Local musicians will celebrate the Bobfather’s 70th birthday during the ninth annual Bob Dylan Appreciation Night at The Press Room in Portsmouth on Thursday, March 26.

Performers are invited to play a Dylan song or three on the upstairs stage. Dan Blakeslee, the veritable Dylan of the Seacoast, will MC the event.

The show begins at 8 p.m. at The Press Room, 77 Daniel St., Portsmouth, 603-431-5186. The cover charge is $5. Those interested in performing should call 603-661-4880 to secure a slot.
