Diamond Doves play Hush Hush
The Red Door has booked yet another exciting band for its intimate Hush Hush Sweet Harlot concert series. Diamond Doves, a trio composed of Elvis Perkins’ backing band, will perform at the Portsmouth venue on Monday, May 16.
Formed just last year, Diamond Doves consists of long-time friends and collaborators Nick Kinsey, Brigham Brough and Wyndham Garnett, all members of the quartet Elvis Perkins in Dearland. The band melds elements of funk and pop, echoing classic groups like Parliament Funkadelic and The Band, as well as contemporaries like The Walkmen and Animal Collective.
As Dearland Horns, a side project featuring the threesome on trombone, saxophone and clarinet, they have performed with the likes of My Morning Jacket, Felice Brothers, Okkervil River, and Cold War Kids. The Doves have also featured keyboardist Marco Benevento, who performed at The Red Door in February.
The show begins at 8 p.m. on May 16 at The Red Door, 107 State St., Portsmouth, 603-373-6827. The door charge is $5.
