Battle of the (young) bands in Dover

Area high school bands have a chance to take the local rock ’n’ roll crown in the first ever Rock Right Tri-City Battle of the Bands. The competition includes opening rounds at the Dover Brick House on Mondays, May 2, 9 and 16, with finals taking place at the Rochester Opera House on May 21.

Presented by Ralph’s House of Tone and Rock Right Academy, the battle is open to bands no older than 18, with a majority of members attending school at Dover, Spaulding, Somersworth, St. Thomas Aquinas, or Portsmouth Christian Academy.  Bands can audition by submitting a video of a live performance or practice session to Rock Right Academy’s Facebook page. Participating bands will be selected based on the number of “likes” their video receives.

Bands from each city (Dover, Rochester and Somersworth) will have a semi-final round at the Brick House, with the top three acts and one wildcard advancing to the finals at the Opera House.

Prizes include free services at Ralph’s and Rock Right, with the grand prize including 16 hours of recording time at the new 1130FT studio in Rollinsford.
