Nateva pulls the plug

Although organizers had already announced a lineup of some 40 bands, the Nateva Music and Camping Festival has canceled its 2011 event.

Nateva debuted in Oxford Maine in 2010, bringing dozens of local and national bands to the Oxford Fairgrounds for three days of music and camping. The headliners last year were moe., The Flaming Lips, and Further.

Organizers said they were forced to cancel the 2011 festival, originally slated for Aug. 4 to 7, due to a number of setbacks. Tickets sales were slower than expected as they tried to compete with a crowded summer festival schedule across the nation.

Customers who already purchased tickets will receive a full refund. Organizers hope to bring Nateva back to Maine in the future.
