Music series on NHPTV

A new television series offers a behind-the-scenes look at some of New England’s top musical acts at work in the studio. “The Acadia Sessions” will soon be available on New Hampshire Public Television’s Explore Channel and to Comcast subscribers in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and areas of southern Maine.

The 13-week documentary series, which first aired on Maine Public Television this spring, shows musicians working and interacting at the Acadia Recording Company in Portland, Maine. The first 30-minute episode, airing on Friday, Dec. 3 at 10 p.m., will feature Portland-based band Spencer and the School Spirit Mafia.

The series is slated to continue every Friday night for the following 12 weeks (the schedule is subject to change). Future installments will include in-studio performances and interviews with such area bands as The Baltic Sea, Dark Hollow Bottling Company, Rustic Overtones, Batshelter, Olas, Brzowski and Sandbag, Huak, South China, Phantom Buffalo, Boreal Tordu, Peepshow, and Murcielago.

Produced by Gina and Marc Bartholomew of Arcadia Recording, the series puts local bands in the spotlight and exposes viewers to the inner workings of their artistic process. For more information, visit www.theacadiasessions.com.
