Martin England rolls out new CD

Local songster Martin England and his new band The Reconstructed are introducing their debut disc with a spree of CD release shows around northern New England. The long-time Seacoast singer and guitarist clearly aims to make a splash with his first solo album, “Razed and Reconstructed.”

The unveiling begins with a kickoff party outside the North Berwick Town Hall in Maine during the Farmers’ Market on Friday, Sept. 24, from 4 to 6 p.m. The CD officially goes on sale at Bull Moose locations on Tuesday, Sept. 28, and England will celebrate with a happy hour party at The Press Room in Portsmouth at 5 p.m., followed by an in-store performance at the Portsmouth Bull Moose at 6 p.m.

The music continues with a full-band release concert at the Hackmatack Playhouse in North Berwick on Friday, Oct. 1 at 6:30 p.m. Then England takes off for shows at Nectar’s in Burlington, Vt., on Oct. 15; Inn at Thorn Hill in Jackson Village on Oct. 22; and The Metropolitan Coffee House in North Conway on Oct. 23. Other shows in the North Country, Portland and Boston are in the works.

Formerly known around the region as front man for Pondering Judd, England writes songs in the style of Steve Earle, Johnny Cash and Wilco. His new band features an all-star cast of area musicians, including Chris O’Neill on guitar, Mike Effenberger on keyboards, Steve Scully on drums, Marc Hickox on bass and Jeff Hawkinson on banjo, plus Eric Ott, Courtney Brocks and Jesse Dold on backing vocals.
