Music Hall announces two more fall shows

The same day legendary folk singer Joan Baez graced The Music Hall’s stage in Portsmouth, tickets went on sale to two other concerts coming up in the fall. Americana artist Justin Townes Earle will come to town on Thursday, Oct. 21, and singer-songwriter Chris Isaak will follow on Friday, Dec. 3.

Townes Earle, the son of legendary folk artist Steve Earle (who recently performed in Portsmouth as part of the Prescott Park Arts Festival), released the record “Midnight at the Movies” in 2009 and received the Best New and Emerging Artist award at the 2009 Americana Music Awards. Tickets are $22 to $17.

Best known for his 1989 hit “Wicked Game,” Isaak’s work has appeared in movies directed by David Lynch and Stanley Kubrick. He’s recognized for his laidback songs and soulful voice, which is reminiscent of Roy Orbison. Tickets are $90 to $75.

Tickets to both shows are on sale now to Music Hall members and will be available to the general public starting Aug. 6. The Music Hall is at 28 Chestnut St., Portsmouth, 603-436-2400, www.themusichall.org.
