Video game music comes alive
Entering Crackskull’s in Newmarket on the evening of Friday, July 23, will be like warping into a real-life video game.
Ambient electronic band The Attic Bits will provide the sounds, performing classic video game music and avant-garde compositions. The Epping-based band consists of Mike D’Errico and Jeremy Murphy, who are known to employ the Nintendo Game Boy as an instrument and are equally influenced by hip-hop and “Dr. Mario.”
The event will also feature a vintage video game swap. Guests are encouraged to bring old Nintendo, Sega, Commodore and Atari cartridges, and consoles will be set up to sit down and play some of the games. There will also be pixel art and refreshments.
The free event begins at 7 p.m. on July 23 at Crackskull’s Coffee & Books, 86 Main St., Newmarket, 603-659-8181. For more on The Attic Bits, visit www.myspace.com/thefloppybunch.
