Area acts set to take the stage at Nateva

The top-billed headliners at the Nateva Festival in Oxford, Maine, are legends of improvisational rock, with moe. taking the main stage on July 2, The Flaming Lips following on July 3, and Further—featuring former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Phil Lesh—headlining on July 4. But the Fourth of July music and camping festival also includes a smattering of talent often found playing rooms across the Seacoast.

From southern New Hampshire come the Nate Wilson Group, a rock quartet that originally formed to fill a residency at The Stone Church in Newmarket, and Roots of Creation, a reggae band with members from Peterborough and Keene. Making the trip from northern Massachusetts are the Ryan Montbleau Band (of Lawrence) and The Brew (of Amesbury), not to mention a slew of Boston bands. Hailing from Portland, Maine, are Rustic Overtones, Gypsy Tailwind, Brenda and Grand Hotel.

In addition to the headliners, these area acts will share stages with national touring powerhouses like The Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi Band, STS9, She & Him (Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward), Drive-By Truckers, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Dweezil Zappa, Jakob Dylan, Keller Williams, The Felice Brothers and many others. Close to 50 total bands will perform during the three-day festival.

The event takes place at the Oxford County Fairgrounds on Pottle Road off Route 26 in Oxford, Maine (about 85 miles from Portsmouth). Full weekend passes for $229 or individual day passes for $89 are available at www.natevafestival.com, along with a complete schedule of performances.
