RiverRun set to re-open

Literary - general

The last few months have been a rollercoaster ride for RiverRun Bookstore, but the business is set to reopen in a new downtown Portsmouth location this month. RiverRun will open its doors at 142 Fleet St. on Friday, Feb. 10.

Owner Tom Holbrook announced last fall he would not renew his lease at 20 Congress St. at the end of 2011 and that, if he did not come up with a new business plan, the store would close permanently. An outpouring of support followed, during which numerous people committed to making significant investments in the business. More than a dozen local citizens now share ownership of RiverRun.

The bookstore, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. It will sell a mixture of new and used books and continue to host frequent author events.
