Meeting on healthy schools in Exeter
The informal group, formed as part of the nationwide Action for Healthy Kids initiative, will bring together parents, students, educators, farmers and food service staffers to discuss ways of creating healthier schools and communities. At the meeting, they’ll discuss some of the efforts that are already underway, as well as some of the challenges that exist.
Several Exeter schools have already begun buying food from local farms and fishermen. But Jeanne Pierce, director of food services for the Exeter Cooperative School District and the New Hampshire Healthy School Coalition, believes more can be done.
