Ritz Chips are Ritz Crackers re-imagined as “chips.” While we generally frown on such brand recycling, the result is yummy.

Ritz Chips have that same delicious buttery taste, only maybe even more buttery. They’re lighter and airier than the cracker version, while also being distinctly harder and crisper. Eaten side by side, they make the classic crackers seem heavy and mealy.

Also, they’re square instead of round. The toothed edge persists, but on the square it’s more edgy, the serration more ragged, like a saw.

Unlike the the substantial cylindrical rolls of crackers one finds in a box of Ritz Crackers, the chips we had came in a tiny snack-pack which had hardly any substance to it at all, little more than wispy flakes of flavor.

They taste good, but people will have to eat a whole lot of Ritz Chips before the chips can even dream of enjoying the legendary status of their big, comfortingly round brothers.
