Brookford Farm headed to Canterbury

Come next spring, Brookford Farm will relocate to a 600-acre property in Canterbury. The move will keep the organic farm operating after its current lease in Rollinsford expires in April.

Stonyfield Farm CEO Gary Hirshberg will purchase the land in Canterbury for $900,000, acting as a lender for Brookford Farm owners Luke and Catarina Mahoney. Canterbury voters approve the sale on Dec. 3.

Located along the Merrimack River, the property was previously home to the Gold Star Sod Farm, but the town bought in 2005. Luke Mahoney said he would run an organic dairy farm with a store and other crops there.
