Holiday open studios: Button Factory opens up

Button Factory Open Studios anniversary edition

The Button Factory Open Studios, now in their 25th year, are among the oldest and most anticipated holiday arts events on the Seacoast. A preview of this year’s event with artist tenants will be held on Friday, Dec. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m., and the open studios continue with even more artists on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3 and 4, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The artists in the building open their doors to the public once a year on the first weekend in December, inviting people to explore their studios and purchase their work.

The Friday evening preview will feature Regina Delaney and Friends playing Celtic music. On Saturday and Sunday, juried artists from outside the building will set up booths throughout its three levels. More than 70 artists and craftspeople will display one-of-a-kind gifts.

Among this year’s offerings are paintings, jewelry, pottery, handmade furniture, fine art photography, hand-made bags and scarves, quilts, paper art, and stained glass mobiles.

The Button Factory is at 855 Islington St. in Portsmouth.
