Two local theater companies mine the individual perspective on historic events with upcoming shows. Opossum Theater will debut Kensington playwright Stephen Erickson’s “Lexington Green” at The Players’ Ring in Portsmouth in April, and Fleet Street Theatre Company will offer the local premiere of James McLure’s “1959 Pink Thunderbird” at the Mill Pond Center in Durham in June.
Directed by Ed Hinton, “Lexington Green” tells the story of 24 hours in a village caught in the path of war and revolution, using drama, history and humor to shed light on timeless moral and ethical questions, according to a press release. The show runs April 13-29, with shows Friday through Sunday. Tickets are $12-$8, available at 603-436-8123 or www. playersring.org.“1959 Pink Thunderbird” reflects the effects of the Vietnam War on three couples in small Southern town through companion one-acts, “Lone Star” and “Laundry and Bourbon.” Keith Weirich, a two-time Broadway veteran, will direct and appear in the show, along with Sarah Bailey, Emerson Kelly, Tana Sirois, Matt Schofield and Whitney Smith, according to a press release.
“1959 Pink Thunderbird” will run Thursday through Sunday, June 7-10. Tickets are $12-$10, available at 603-868-8999 or www.millpondcenter.org.
