The Ogunquit Playhouse celebrates its upcoming 75th Diamond Jubilee Anniversary Season with an extended 20-week schedule and weekend matinees. The program includes a mix of Broadway classics and newcomers, with tickets $48-$39.
“Menopause: The Musical,” the biggest selling show in the history of the Playhouse, returns for a special pre-season encore presentation May 23-June 9. Emmy Award winner Sally Struthers returns to the Playhouse for the official season opener, “The Full Monty” June 12-30. “Crazy for You,” the all-singing, all-tapdancing 1992 Tony Award winner featuring Gershwin’s most memorable songs, takes the stage July 3-14. “La Cage Aux Folles” will run July 17-Aug 4, and “The King and I” will be recreated with the Broadway sets and costumes Aug. 7-25. “Hairspray,” winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Book of a Musical, rounds out the summer Aug. 28-Sept. 15, followed by a return engagement of “The Full Monty” through Columbus Day weekend.
The Playhouse Children’s Theatre Program will continue to offer theatrical training camps for students in kindergarten through high school, under the guidance of education director Gina Connolly. The Kid’s Korner production schedule, with two performances on Saturdays at 10 a.m. and noon, includes Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland” on July 7, “Robin Hood” on July 28, a performance to be announced on Aug. 11 and Disney’s “Mulan Jr.” on Aug. 18. Admission is $9.
