new paintball course opens in Lee
If you’ve ever wondered what it would feel like to be in a gunfight and don’t mind having painful, half-dollar sized bruises on your body, paintball is the sport for you.
Seacoast residents now have a new way to relieve the stress of daily life. BOLP (Bunch of Lost People) Paintball recently opened a new field at 114 Mast Road in Lee. It is open to the public and can also be reserved for private functions and group competitions.
The field will hold a Father’s Day special with free entry and rental equipment for dads on Sunday, June 17. This is the perfect legal opportunity for parents to get even with their children (as long as they are over 12) for sneaking out of the house or getting bad grades. It also gives kids a chance to pelt their parents in retaliation for grounding them and making them eat broccoli.
Even without the Father’s Day special, playing paintball at the BOLP field will not break your budget. The registration fee is just $5, and you can rent a paintball gun, a full CO2 tank, a safety mask and 100 rounds of paintballs for another $15. Additional bags of 100 rounds cost $5.
The BOLP field consists of two courses. A 200 by 150 foot “speedball” field includes obstacles that are rearranged every few days to keep things fresh. A four-acre woods field is made up of several manmade bunkers, a small castle and two opposing forts. There is also an 85-foot bridge that spans a swamp.
For those who have never played paintball, the rules are simple. If you get hit, you leave the game. Whoever remains clear of paint the longest is declared the winner. Competitions can include a number of different scenarios. In one game, a team must storm a castle while an opposing team defends it. Another game consists of a “capture the flag” competition. Games are timed to last about 20 minutes to make sure the action never drags.
Barrington resident Joey Schneider, who recently played at the new course in Lee, had only two words to say when asked if he liked paintball: “Oh, yeah!”
