The Wells Reserve at historic Laudholm Farm will host its fifth annual Winter Family Fun Day on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. On the schedule are games, stories, crafts and activities for all ages. The suggested donation is just $5 per family.
Visitors can make a bird feeder, casts of animal tracks, a wildlife and winter tree identification guide, and a variety of snowflakes and snowman crafts. Join a family scavenger hunt, or discover how animals keep warm in winter and how to recognize their tracks, in a class offered by staff from White Pines Programs.
If there is snow, plan on snow sculptures, snow games and sledding (bring your own sled), or bring snowshoes or cross-country skis to explore seven miles of trails. (A limited supply of snowshoes are available to borrow thanks to Sea Road School.
There will also be free hot drinks for those who bring or buy a mug.
The schedule of activities is as follows: 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.: guided nature walk or snowshoe; 11:30 a.m.-noon: story reading; 11:30 a.m.-1:45 p.m.: winter animal tracking program; 12:45-1:45 p.m.: guided nature walk or snowshoe; 1:30-2 p.m.: story reading; and 2-3 p.m.: winter tree identification walk.
