There's a squirrel on the loose at WSCA, and he's terrorizing the studio, according to radio station director Tim Stone. "We're going squirreling," Stone said. The wily rodent has been making faces at the DJs and leaving droppings all over the studio for the last week. Stone said a family of squirrels has a nest in the ceiling of the station. He thinks the offending squirrel fell through a loose ceiling tile and made its way into the inner offices. So far, the squirrel hasn't caused any major damage, Stone said, but "if perchance we lose our signal, we'll know it's the squirrel." Previous attempts to trap the squirrel using organic peanut butter failed, Stone said. Once the squirrel is caught, Stone plans to release it back into the wild; he initially planned to transport it to Maine, but later learned that wasn't an option. "You can't transport a squirrel to Maine," he said. The station is looking for donations of squirrel-sized Have-a-Heart traps. Stone has considered other options if the squirrel manages to evade capture. "We'd give him a show, but I think we'd have a hard time training him," Stone said. |
