Following in the successful footsteps of Special Olympics New Hampshire's yearly Penguin Plunge, residents of the Child and Family Services Group Home in Concord will brave the frigid waters of the Atlantic for the seventh annual Polar Bear Plunge on Friday, Feb. 18.

A residential care facility, the CFS Group Home provides emergency overnight or long-term care to youths 13-19 years old. The annual plunge raises money for the home's activity fund, which pays for skiing, rafting, camping and other activities not subsidized by the state.

There are 12 residents in the home, according to Kat Strange, communications director for CFS. Though the plunge is typically a small event, Strange said the kids usually raise about $1,000 each year.

To make a pledge to the Polar Bear Plunge, or for further information, call the CFS Group Home at 603-224-9313 or visit www.cfsnh.org.
