Seacoast Commuter Options continues to work to provide green-friendly commuter options for workers in the Seacoast.

Recently, SCO partnered with Portsmouth Regional Hospital to provide carpool-specific parking spaces in the hospital’s lot. It is hoped that this preferential treatment will encourage more of the hospital’s 800-something employees to take part in SCO’s carpooling program. SCO also offers ridematching to hospital employees, connecting employees who live near each other, as well as a guaranteed ride home program. SCO also promotes the Seacoast Bike to Work program.

The group hopes that by promoting carpooling and other, similar measures, the amount of traffic in the area can be diminished and regional air quality can be improved.

Any local business in the Seacoast area can become a member of Seacoast Commuter Options, on the Web at www.seacoastcommuteroptions.org.  The program is funded through a Congestion, Mitigation and Air Quality Grant administered by the N.H. Department of Transportation with matching funds provided by the Pease Development Authority.
