York Beach renovation revived, exciting meetings to watch for |

A proposal to renovate the Atlantic House in York Beach has resurfaced, with upscale retail space on the first floor; a year-round, high-end restaurant on the second floor; and six condominiums on the third and fourth floors. The proposal, originally brought forward in 2002 in a slightly different form-with a spa on the third floor and function room on the fourth-is currently under consideration by the York Planning Board. Owner Bob Rivers has said he intends to restore the elegant but aging building to the mood of its 19th-century heyday, but neighbors are concerned about parking. The board has advised Rivers that several hurdles must be overcome; if they are, construction could begin this fall on the property at 2 Beach St. upcoming meetings Rochester: Changes in the state's Medicaid program and the proposed Granite Care plan will be discussed at a Legislator's Forum in Rochester on Thursday, March 10 at 6 p.m. The forum will be held at Rochester Community Partners, 25 Old Dover Road.
