David Surette and Susie Burke are returning to Rollinsford’s Black Bean Café with their second annual Cabin Fever series. The “house concert”-style winter series features a creative collaboration between Burke, Surette and a different local or regional musician each month. Concert-goers will be treated to both solo acts and ensemble numbers.
The first performance, on Saturday, Jan. 20, features traditional and contemporary songs and fiddle tunes of Skip Gorman, a Rounder records recording artist and one of the country’s leading players of Bill Monroe-style mandolin.
The series continues on Saturday, Feb. 17, with songs and spoken word with balladeer/poet John Perrault. Violinist Sam Goodall, who plays folk, blues and jazz, will conclude the series on Saturday, March 17.
The shows are intimate and unamplified, and the café will be serving a selection of lighter fare, desserts, beverages, tea and coffee beginning at 6 p.m. for attendees. Listeners may also bring their own beverages.
The concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15, available at the door. Burke notes that last year’s shows sold out, so those interested in securing a seat may purchase tickets in advance at The Black Bean Café, 20 Front St., Rollinsford, by calling 207-384-8151 or by writing
