The Rice Public Library in Kittery will close Tuesday, Nov. 7 through Tuesday, Nov. 14 while the staff and volunteers apply new barcode stickers to more than 57,000 items for a new catalog system.

The library is joining a consortium called Minerva, which includes more than 85 public, academic, school and special libraries in Maine. As part of the switch, the library will change over to an upgraded catalog management system. All fines for late books will be waived through Nov. 14.

Sign-up sheets for additional volunteers are waiting at both library buildings for those interested in helping with this mammoth project. For more information, call the library at 207-439-1553.
