Cup-O-Gold | Print |  E-mail

Adams & Brooks, Inc., Los Angeles, California

The Cup-O-Gold comes in a little paper skirt like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, but on the Cup-O-Gold it seems different ... more like a kilt. This is a big, bold snack, a satisfying adventure of a candy bar.

The thick chocolate cup is textured with almond bits and itty-bitty coconut fronds, giving it just the tiniest hint of a crunch, and the creamy center is smooth, almost Cadbury Creme Egg-smooth, like white treasure. The coconut fronds do tend to stick in your teeth, so you end up eating them again later (either a plus or a minus, depending on your perspective) and the chocolate is a bit waxy, but the overall effect of the Cup-O-Gold is of slugging back a shot of candy. Bracing!

And who can resist that jaunty pirate/cowboy and/or conquistador on the wrapper?

Zounds, men, let's have another!
