Nine homes in the coastal villages of Kittery and Kittery Point, Maine, will be featured in the 16th Annual Kitchen Tour to benefit The Music Hall. The homes were selected for their appealing kitchens—from sleek and contemporary to cozy and traditional. This year’s tour will be held Saturday, April 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $20 for members, $23 for non-members and $25 for everyone on the day of the tour.

Each year, the tour attracts over 1,000 visitors who come to marvel at some of the Seacoast’s most spectacular kitchens, to look for inspiration for their own remodeling projects, or simply to enjoy an afternoon out with family or friends. Proceeds from the tour support operating costs at The Music Hall.

Among the homes on this year’s tour is a residence in the active adult community at Shepard’s Cove. The layout of the kitchen creates a sense of both grandness and privacy, with tall ceilings, oversized cabinetry with crown molding and plenty of granite counter space to cater to the gourmet cook. The Kittery home of Jane Lapiore features a room inspired by professional kitchens, with easily accessible open stainless steel shelving was placed under the cook-top, a surrounding backsplash of sea of glass tiles fitted with a pot filler, and a handy pull-out spice holder placed near the oven. One kitchen is located in 19th century farmhouse, which retirees Ken and Kristen Fellows transformed from a summer home into a year-round residence, and another is notable for its bold reflection of the artistic tastes of the homeowners.

The Music Hall Kitchen Tour is self-guided with the aid of a printed map. Tour-goers can start and finish the tour anywhere they like. Because of narrow streets and limited parking in Kittery and Kittery Point, The Music Hall encourages car pooling, riding your bike or walking from our designated parking areas (all noted on the map).

For visitors looking to turn their own dreams into reality, the craftsmen, artisans, designers and architects involved in the kitchens are noted in the tour's guidebook, along with detailed descriptions of the kitchens.

Tickets are on sale now at The Music Hall box office, 28 Chestnut St., Portsmouth, 603-436-2400, www.themusichall.org.

Tickets may also be purchased in advance at: Artichokes, Attrezzi, Beach Pea Baking Company, City & Country, The Cranberry Bog, the Greater York Chamber of Commerce, and The Lollipop Tree.

Tickets may be purchased the Day of the Tour at: The Music Hall Box Office and the Kittery Lions Club on Route 1, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
