Stonewall Kitchen, local manufacturer and retailer of specialty foods, has donated a portion of the proceeds from their 2006 fourth quarter sales to Share Our Strength and AIDS Response Seacoast.
Share Our Strength is a national nonprofit organization that inspires and organizes individuals and businesses to share their strengths to help end hunger in their local community. More than $10,000 was sent to the group, helping it fight to end hunger in the Seacoast and throughout the nation.
More than $14,000 was given to ARS, a nonprofit, community-based HIV/AIDS service organization dedicated to providing education, direct assistance and advocacy for persons and communities affected by HIV/AIDS. ARS provides services to clients who live in Rockingham, Strafford and southern York counties and develops and conducts educational programs throughout New England. ARS evolved in 1987 as a grassroots response to the epidemic, offering vital emotional and practical support to people living with HIV infection and AIDS. The organization recently suffered from cuts in federal funding.
“We are so pleased to be able to give back to the community, we had a great year and are fortunate to be able to give a portion of that success to these incredible organizations that are out there helping people,” noted Stonewall Kitchen owners Jim Stott and Jonathan King in a press release.
