Ward 4A Councilor Ray Lundborn
Age: 61
Years living in Rochester: since 83
Occupation: real estate sales
Public Experience: 10 years on School Board, eight
years as state rep., three terms on City Council
-If elected, what is the top goal you would like to see accomplished?
The top goal I'd like to see would be to all be working in
one cohesive stance on taking care of all the issues of the city. I don't have
any agenda.
-What kinds of new businesses would you like to see in
Rochester?
I would like to see factories. It's great to have the retail
stores that we have. That's very, very good. And, I know it's tough to get
factories because they all go overseas, but factories seem to be where your
better paying jobs are.
-How much do you think the city should invest in the
Riverwalk project, to connect the northern and southern sections of the city?
I've been against the Riverwalk. I think it's going to bring
us more problems than we need. The section down by the Elizabeth Seaton School,
where developer Steve Miller has offered some money for a bridge, that would be
really nice. But, I think that should be about the limit.
-Would you support a request from the Police Department
to add more fulltime officers to its staff?
The short answer is yes, but we need to look at what it
costs and when we need to bring them in. In the past we've talked about brining
in one for a full year and one for half a year to spread the costs out. I
couldn't say we'd bring in four or five or six, but one or two.
-What would you do to promote the arts in Rochester and
support the city's growing artistic community?
I think the city's doing quite a bit with the Rochester
Opera House. I know that Jon Nolan and the (Rochester) Times are getting on
this poet laureate type of thing, and there's been a couple of arts walks
planned. I think that there is a certain niche in the area for that type of
thing, and we should be able to provide for them.
-What is your favorite event at the Rochester Fair?
I spend a lot of time at the race track.
