Mayor
John Larochelle
Age: 60
Rochester res. 28 yrs.
Occupation: retired, Mayor of Rochester
Public Experience: former City Councilor, current mayor

-If elected, what is the top goal you would like to see accomplished?

Create a commonly held

To have City Council work well together as a team with the city manger and staff and to foster cooperation between the City Council and other boards and commissions.

-What kinds of new businesses would you like to see in Rochester?

I would like to attract “high tech” manufacturing and service businesses with jobs requiring a skilled labor force.

-How much do you think the city should invest in the Riverwalk project, to connect the northern and southern sections of the city?

No Rochester tax money. Financial investment should come from other sources.

-Would you support a request from the Police Department to add more fulltime officers to its staff?

Yes, as required to move to a more proactive police force, which would promote community policing.

-What would you do to promote the arts in Rochester and support the city’s growing artistic community?

The Rochester Opera House is the focal point for the arts in Rochester and brings patrons to our downtown. I would like to see the upper stories of the downtown buildings rehabilitated into suitable housing to create an environment for creative individuals to work and live.

-What is your favorite event at the Rochester Fair?

I am an amateur nature photographer, so I enjoyed the photography exhibition the most.
