If elected, what is the top goal you would like to see accomplished?

I would like to see a comprehensive review of our city’s master plans and zoning. By tackling these issues, we will ensure stable economic and residential growth. The city of Rochester is poised to attract even more retail and industry in the coming years. We need to have plans in place to ensure our infrastructure can accommodate this growth.

What kinds of businesses would you like to see in Rochester?

I would like to see Rochester attract businesses that would offer employment to college graduates. Such businesses would include insurance companies, financial institutions, satellite campuses of established New Hampshire colleges and universities, and high tech industry. The Lilac City is a wonderful place to call home, and we need to offer our residents more opportunities to work within their community.

How much do you think the city should invest in the Riverwalk project, to connect the northern and southern sections of the city?

Downtown revitalization remains a top priority for the city. However, the Riverwalk project needs to be carefully researched. In a time when our current infrastructure is aging, we need to be fiscally responsible with our tax payers’ dollars. The Riverwalk program should not be abandoned. The City Council will need to work closely with the Rochester Main Street program to further develop a plan that is equitable to downtown businesses and affordable to city tax payers.

Would you support a request from the Police Department to add more fulltime officers to its staff?

I have spoken to many voters throughout my campaign. One topic that is constantly addressed with me is the response time of our police force. The City Council must work collaboratively with the police chief and the elected Police Commission to develop a comprehensive staffing plan that accomplishes the safety needs of our citizens. If I find there is a need to add additional personnel, and it is recommended by the chief and the Commission, I would fully support the request. I believe a strong police force is paramount in the growth and development of our community.

What would you do to promote the arts in Rochester and support the city’s growing artistic community?

The arts in Rochester provide this community with an identity and character. Having been actively involved in the arts programs throughout my four years at Spaulding High School, I have found the programs to provide me a healthy balance in life. I fully support the growth of music, dance, theater and art shows. The Opera House provides a perfect stage for our local artisans to shine. I am very excited to support the continued growth of the arts in the Lilac City.

What is your favorite event at the Rochester Fair?

Great question! I love the harness racing. There is such excitement in watching the horses and drivers make their way around the track. The fair, in general, is a great place to visit.  It’s the one time of the year you can catch up with old friends and acquaintances. More importantly, it’s yet another community event that brings us all together.
