exhibit benefits AIDS Response Seacoast

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of paintings by Provincetown artist Laurence Young at the Banks Gallery in downtown Portsmouth will benefit AIDS Response Seacoast. The exhibit, “Paintings of Provincetown in Summer,” will run through Saturday, April 4.

An artist reception will be held on Friday, March 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. The suggested donation for the reception is $20.
AIDS Response Seacoast is a non-profit, community-based service organization dedicated to providing education, assistance and advocacy for people affected by HIV and AIDS. It is based in Portsmouth and serves the greater Seacoast community.

The Banks Gallery is located at 420 Court St., Portsmouth.

Kennedy Gallery holds invite-only show

Kennedy Gallery & Custom Framing is extending invitations to a one-night art exhibit on Thursday, March 19 from 6 to 9 p.m.

For one night only, a representative from Island International Arts will be at the gallery in downtown Portsmouth with a large selection of works by more than 30 artists both nationally and internationally known.

The art includes original paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastels, monoprints, etchings and short-run limited editions. Purchases will be eligible for special custom framing discounts.

Garden Club seeks public art

The Barrington Bloomers Garden Club is calling for entries for a public art sculpture to be designed and installed in the new Town Flower Garden at the intersection of Routes 9 and 125.

The Garden Club will host an opening of the installed sculpture on May 17, and the selected artist will be promoted throughout the year. The chosen artist will be notified on April 20.

The garden is two and a half tiers, approximately 20 feet square, and is on the southwest corner of the intersection. All forms of sculpture will be considered.

Interested artists should submit their names and contact information by April 10, along with sketches or photos of the design, including the dimensions of the sculpture.
