The 57th annual Ogunquit Art Association auction at the Barn Gallery will be held on Saturday, Aug. 2.

Auctioneer Hap Moore will take bids on paintings, graphics, photographs and sculptures by members of the Art Association, the area’s oldest professional artist organization. A percentage of the proceeds go to the Ogunquit Arts Collaborative, a non-profit organization that owns and administers the Barn Gallery. Artists also have the opportunity to donate work with 100 percent of the sale price going back to the Collaborative.

“The auction is our biggest event of the summer,” said gallery manager Marie Gallo. She said it’s an opportunity for the community to come see the gallery, meet the association members and learn more about it, and maybe bring home a new piece of art. The organization is made up of about 75 members who live within 100 miles of Ogunquit, some seasonally.
Consumers can preview the art at the Barn Gallery and pick an artist-designed bid card or leave a silent bid through Friday, Aug. 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participating OAA artists have created original, one-of-a-kind bid cards on sale at the gallery for $25. Plain bid cards for admission are available for $5, which also includes a catalog and refreshments. Doors reopen for the auction at 7 p.m. on Saturday and bidding starts at 8 p.m.

Some event parking is available in the Barn Gallery parking lot. Auction attendees are encouraged to carpool or park in the Obed’s Lane parking lot behind the Dunaway Center. It is a short trolley ride or a 10-minute walk from there.
The Barn Gallery is at the corner of Shore Road and Bourne Lane in Ogunquit, Maine, 207-646-8400.
