Alexander Lake Design welcomes the Currier Museum of Art for a discussion of European and American Impressionism. Among the works capturing light and daily life in Europe and America to be discussed are those of Claude Monet and John J. Appleton Brown. The free lecture will take place Thursday, April 5, at 6:30 and is free and open to the public. The Dover gallery is located at 284 Central Ave., 603-750-7227.
The following week, Susan Strickler, director of the Currier Museum of Art, and Andrew Spahr, chief curator, will present an illustrated talk on the stories and strategies behind art museum collections. The talk, open to the public, will take place Thursday, April 12, at 6 p.m. at Christ Church, 43 Pine St, in Exeter. The presentation will also include an update on the Currier Museum’s $21.4 million expansion that will permit more of its collections to be on view.
By offering educational and informational programs for schools, libraries and community organizations while its building in Manchester is closed for expansion, the Currier is working to tell its story and raise awareness of its role as an art museum for all of New Hampshire, according to a press release. In the past six months, Currier volunteers have arranged over 225 talks across the state, with upcoming programs currently scheduled at the Exeter Public Library on April 25, North Hampton Library on May 7 and Newmarket Library on May 10.
